Overview

MORE HALL CONVENT RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME
A brief Summary.

More Hall is owned & run by The Grace and Compassion Benedictines. It is one of several residential and nursing homes, administered and run by the Sisters. It is a Registered Charity No. 1056064. The sisters also work in the U.K, and overseas in, India, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Kenya.
Our values are Christian, but we respect the values of people of all faiths and none.

We offer a happy, welcoming environment, with accommodation for up to 10 residents , in single, en suite rooms that are pleasant and decorative. We believe that our residents, should be able to make their own choices, in so far as is possible, supported by our staff and by their families and friends in order to retain their independence in so far as is possible.

The Home has a large dining room, a sitting room and a library, where residents can enjoy homely comfort, It has a small, private inner courtyard, formed by two projecting cross-gable wings. These provide private places for visiting family members to sit and spend time with their relatives, weather permitting. It has its own Chapel. A daily Service is normally held for those who wish to attend. The chapel is actively used by the local community as their parish church. People of all faiths, and none, are most welcome.

The way of life at the Home is fostered by the Sisters, (who live at More Hall) together with our Lay Staff, who work alongside us. It enjoys a peaceful, countryside location, at the foot of the village of Randwick, 2 miles from the town of Stroud

We have lovely extensive gardens, with benches, a fish pond, and a footpath that enables a peaceful walk around the lawns and borders. Surrounded by a variety of trees and wild life with good views over Stroud , the gardens are a picturesque, sheltered place to sit on summer days.

Friends and family visit at their convenience and are able to spend as much time with their relatives as they wish, creating a pleasant, family atmosphere. We encourage the continued involvement of family and friends to help maintain essential family and community ties.

The Home offers long-term care to elderly people. We focus on helping older people with physical frailty and sensory impairment, as well as those with mild cognitive disabilities (e.g. mild short term memory loss.), and those needing companionship and care. Admissions are based on the person’s need, and our ability to meet that need. We accept both those who are able to self- fund, and those funded by Social Services.

THE SERVICE WE PROVIDE

a) More Hall provides 24 hour residential care for up to 10 elderly people, each with their own en suite room. This care includes whatever assistance may be required with personal hygiene tasks, and with washing and dressing etc. It does not include nursing care, but our District Nurses are very supportive. All staff are appropriately trained to meet the needs of the residents. These needs are assessed by the care manager, in consultation with health care professionals, normally in the person’s own home, prior to admission, to ensure that this care home is the right one for them.

(b) All meals are provided and there is a varied and nutritious menu. Special diets are catered for. Snacks are offered outside of meal times and hot/cold drinks are freely available. Residents’ visitors are always welcome at More Hall and there is a guest room where a relative/friend may stay .

(c) All residents’ laundry is taken care of and rooms are kept clean and tidy. We do ask for residents’ laundry to be marked!

(d) We offer afternoon activities, such as musical therapy, cake decorating, & flower arranging to residents who enjoy and benefit from these. During the year, we arrange outings to places of interest. The home has a library with a good selection of books, a dining room and a television room. There is a common wifi connection in the library & Sitting Room, which residents may use, unfortunately we have not been able to extend this to the rooms to date, so residents will need to arrange for their own wifi/router to be installed if they wish to have access to the internet in their rooms.

(e) Residents may bring as much of their own furniture and personal items as will fit comfortably into their room.

SERVICE USERS’ NEEDS WHICH THE CARE HOME IS
ABLE TO MEET.

We care for elderly people, who do not require nursing care, but who are too frail to live in their own homes and who need support with ordinary, daily tasks.

We welcome those with physical disability, providing the care home is able to meet their particular needs; and those with mild dementia/Memory loss, if More Hall is able to meet their care needs.
