About Us
Welcome to Sandy Court
Sandy Court is a specialist residential service supporting up to 36 individuals with mental health disorders, dementia, learning disabilities, autism, and other complex care needs. Located in Ossett, Sandy Court provides a warm, therapeutic and person-centred environment where individuals are supported to live fulfilling, meaningful and more independent lives.
The service is thoughtfully designed across three dedicated units, providing a flexible environment that can accommodate a range of individual needs and preferences. Sandy Court comprises one all-male unit, one all-female unit and one mixed-gender unit, ensuring that people are supported within an environment that is appropriate and comfortable for them.
Each unit has its own kitchen and dining area, creating welcoming communal spaces where residents can enjoy meals, socialise and develop everyday living skills in a homely environment. This unit-based approach also supports a sense of community, familiarity and belonging while allowing individuals to maintain their own routines and independence.
All bedrooms at Sandy Court are spacious, comfortable and ensuite, providing residents with their own private space and promoting dignity, privacy and independence. The service also benefits from attractive communal areas and outdoor spaces, providing opportunities for relaxation, social interaction and meaningful activities.
Our support is tailored around each individual, with care, recovery and enablement approaches used to promote independence, choice and personal development. Our compassionate and highly trained team has extensive experience in supporting individuals with complex care needs, including behaviours that may challenge, using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach.
At Sandy Court, we recognise that every individual is unique. Our approach is therefore centred around understanding each person's needs, strengths, preferences and aspirations. We work collaboratively with residents, their families and professionals to develop personalised support that enables each person to achieve their goals and experience the best possible quality of life.
Our dedicated in-house support includes access to a Clinical Lead, Positive Behaviour Support expertise and a specialist Therapy Team, working alongside the wider care team to provide a holistic approach to care and support. This collaborative model enables us to consider not only an individual's care needs, but also their emotional wellbeing, physical health, independence, relationships and aspirations.
We place significant investment in our staff, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and ongoing development in areas including Moving and Handling, PROACT-SCIPr-UK, Positive Behaviour Support, care planning, capacity assessments, community assessments and meaningful activity support. This ensures our team has the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide safe, effective and compassionate support.
Our Therapy Team, Positive Behaviour Support practitioners and Service Managers work closely with the care team to develop meaningful and therapeutic daily activities that promote independence, confidence, social inclusion and overall wellbeing. Activities are designed around the individual, ensuring people have opportunities to pursue their interests, develop new skills and remain connected with their local community.
Located within the local community of Ossett, Sandy Court provides opportunities for residents to access local amenities, services and community activities, supporting social inclusion and helping individuals to develop and maintain their independence.
At Sandy Court, we are proud to provide a safe, respectful, supportive and enriching home where every individual is valued as a person. Through our specialist knowledge, therapeutic approach and commitment to person-centred care, we support each resident to make choices, develop their independence and live a life that is meaningful to them.
