Overview
Horton Cross Nursing Home is a nursing care facility located in the peaceful surroundings of Ilminster, Somerset. We are registered to accommodate up to 46 residents, offering both long-term and short-term care options. Our experienced team provides high-quality support for individuals living with dementia, as well as those requiring respite care, intermediate care, or care through the Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathway.
At present, Horton Cross Nursing Home is rated as “Requires Improvement” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We fully acknowledge the importance of this rating and have taken significant, proactive steps to improve the quality of our services. Over the past three months, we have made notable progress in enhancing care delivery, ensuring safe practices, and building a stronger, more skilled workforce. This includes the recruitment of experienced healthcare professionals and the provision of targeted training to upskill our current staff.
We have successfully completed all action plans outlined by the CQC following our last inspection, and we are awaiting a follow-up visit from inspectors, with the goal of achieving a “Good” rating across all domains. Our commitment to continuous improvement also extends to the living environment—we are currently undergoing a phased programme of refurbishment to modernise resident rooms and communal areas, creating a warm, safe, and welcoming space for those we support.
At Horton Cross, we are dedicated to putting people at the heart of everything we do. Our team remains focused on providing person-centred care in a respectful, inclusive, and homely environment.
