Tanglewood is a small residential care home located in Hawkinge, near Folkestone in Kent. We care for people who have profound and complex learning disabilities and significant visual impairment. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality care in an environment that looks and feels like a family home.

Care

We believe we are working in the home of the people we care for. Our care is person-centred, based on the individual needs of the people we look after. We work with the person in our care as well as relatives and other professionals (as appropriate) to co-produce our service and a menu of activities that are tailored to meet their needs. This includes diet and nutrition, with home cooked meals catering for what a person likes as well as any specific health needs they may have.

As well as the individual’s emotional well-being, we provide a range of appropriate activities to support their physical well-being. These include walking, gardening, swimming and aqua fit, music and movement and trips out shopping and visiting pubs and restaurants within the local and wider community. We also have regular excursions to local & county events

To complement our person-centred approach to care we work very hard to provide a therapeutic community for our people we care for. The relationship our colleagues build with the people they care for allows us to establish a structured day, with appropriate activities and opportunities to build relationships with staff and other clients that meets their psychological and emotional needs.

Environment

Tanglewood is a detached 7 bedroom family home situated in a rural location on the outskirts of Hawkinge village.
