Overview

South Avenue is a specially adapted home for up to seven young adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, challenging behaviours, and other needs such as Down's syndrome, autism, and sensory impairments. Our team are trained to support a range of communication needs, including verbal communication, Makaton, and personalised techniques, with detailed communication plans updated regularly.

The people we support are assisted in creating weekly schedules of activities both at home and in the community, helping them develop skills, achieve goals, or simply enjoy their time. Support is also provided for daily living tasks, appointments, social activities, and work, with encouragement for independence. Regular meetings ensure individuals are involved in household decisions. The home’s transport is available for outings and appointments.

The building has seven en-suite bedrooms spread over two floors, with wheelchair-accessible spaces throughout the ground floor and garden. Shared spaces include two large bathrooms, a spacious lounge with an arts and crafts area, a central kitchen, a dining area, a double conservatory, and a sensory/relaxation room. The secure garden is perfect for barbecues or relaxation.

The dedicated team, available 24/7, is committed to helping residents lead active, fulfilling lives. They provide tailored support based on individual needs, fostering a homely and relaxed environment.
