Overview
Cambian Dilston College is an independent specialist provider of further education in North East England, offering day and up to 52-week residential placements for young people aged 16-25 with a learning disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex needs. Our person-centred approach provides students with individualised learning programmes developed to effectively match their needs, personal decisions and aspirations, be the focus on daily living skills, vocational qualifications or independent living. Our students gain important life skills and meaningful qualifications, evidencing our commitment to enabling increased choice, control and independence.
Cambian Dilston College considers applications nationally and are able to offer day and up to 52-week residential placements. Our residential provision is registered with Care Quality Commission CQC as a residential care home. Cambian Dilston College is registered as a college for students with a diagnosis of a learning disability. It is therefore a fundamental requirement for an application to the college. Admission to the college is typically by way of an EHCP produced by the young person’s Local Authority. Parents may also make representation themselves. Placements may start at the beginning of the academic year but also may begin at any point throughout the year depending on the individual’s circumstances.
Cambian Dilston College have a range of facilities on site to support young people including a cafe and bakery, art room, pottery room, sensory room, large movement space, outdoor gym/sport area, animals and horticulture (polytunnels, greenhouse), small library/reading room, functional skills room, classrooms, I.T., independent living skills teaching space, as well as 10 accommodations suitable for multi-occupancy.
